Today, we’re adding support for another AWS service to Skeddly: Amazon AppStream 2.0.
Amazon AppStream is a service provided by Amazon Web Services that allows you to stream desktop applications through a web browser. Applications run on the Amazon servers, and you interact with the applications through your web browser.
Amazon AppStream is often forgotten when it comes to cost-saving strategies. Many times, these applications are line-of-business applications that only need to be available during business hours, Monday through Friday.
Today, we’re helping you achieve those cost savings by adding a new action: Start AppStream Fleets.
Using this new action, you can start and stop your AppStream fleets on your desired schedule. Start your fleets so they are available at 8am and shut them down at 8pm when they’re not being used.
Fleets can be selected using a few methods:
And like most of our “start” actions, the fleets can be stopped after a specified amount of time. Some examples:
If you’re only using your fleets for 12 hours a day, Monday through Friday, then that could save you almost 65%.
This new action is available now. Pricing can be found on our pricing page.
